While we have experienced some very mild temperatures, we are just days away from the first official day of winter. Often this brings an increase in those typical winter ailments such as colds, sore throats and flus.
Many of our over 65-year-olds have received the flu vaccination and we are now looking forward to being able to vaccinate the rest of our patients. This year there were two separate vaccines (rather than one as in previous years). There was a specific vaccine for over 65-year-olds and a different vaccine for under 65-year-olds. This second vaccine is not available until 17 May 2021 and we are anticipating holding a Saturday morning flu clinic on the 22nd May, 2021. Please always refer to our website for information on the walk-in clinic (no appointment required).
We certainly have been busy over the last few weeks, I’m not sure if it’s busier than normal (or just our normal!) but our working weeks are very full.
When making an appointment to see one of our doctors please be aware that a 15-minute consultation is broken into 13 minutes consulting time and 2 minutes paperwork (there is always paperwork!). To get the best out of your consultation please only have one or two issues you want to discuss and always discuss your most important issue first. Your health concerns are own priority and we want to work with you to deliver the best service.
We are grateful for the amazing team that we have here at Travis Medical Centre, and as I write this email, we are celebrating International Nurses Day and International Receptionists Day (12 May). Our team are champions and I am sure you will join me in acknowledging the positive difference they may to your healthcare experience.
We would also like to especially mention Sue Peers; Sue is a long-standing member of our team and many of you will be familiar with Sue. It is with much gratitude that we acknowledge Sue’s 20-year anniversary with Travis Medical Centre. 20 years!!! This is a phenomenal milestone – congratulations Sue, you are a star!
What else is happening with our team …
Jo Swift, our HealthCare Assistant is returning to nursing; we are excited by this change and are grateful that Jo will stay with our practice as part of our vibrant nursing team.
Tracy, who many of you will recognise as the face of Travis Medical Centre is changing her career pathway and re-training as our HealthCare Assistant. Again, we are so pleased that Tracy has shown to make this career change within Travis Medical Centre.
We are encouraging patients to access our patient portal, ConnectMed. Using a patient portal allows patients to make their own appointments, order their prescriptions and view lab results – these enables patients to take greater control of their health and health needs. Please speak to any one of our team here and we will help you register and navigate your way around the patient portal.
